Those children who came along to our Mother’s Day Crafts made a variety of things for their Mums and Grandmas to let them know just how wonderful they are!
As well as enjoying crafts today we talked about the history of Mothering Sunday. In the past children often worked away from home and worshipped at their nearest church, but it was considered important to return to their home or ‘mother’ church once a year. So each year in the middle of Lent everyone would visit their ‘mother’ church. This meant children who were working away from home returned to their families on this day, taking gifts for their Mum.
